This is a full-time, non-exempt position (37.5 hours per week), which will require working a flexible schedule including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends in the Administration Department.
Minimum salary: Starting at $42,000 DOQ, plus benefits

The Bloomingdale Public Library seeks a full-time public relations/marketing person to develop and implement marketing and branding strategies that will increase the community's awareness of library services and programs. This position develops and creates messages that communicate the value of the library through print, signage, web, and social media and represent the library at community events. Creation and design of library portion of community newsletter (6 x yearly) is a critical duty. This position represents the library to a Friends group. Additional duties include overseeing all press releases and public relations activities to ensure a positive community wide presence.

This position reports to the Library Director. The library serves a population of 22,018 with a $2.9 million operating budget.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires expertise typically acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in marketing-related degree, or equivalent professional qualification. Coursework in graphic design preferred.

Minimum 2 years marketing experience in a comparable business organization or library is necessary.

Ability to effectively use graphic design software, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign and/or Quark. Knowledge of Drupal software a plus.

Graphic Arts/Publishing
Considerable knowledge of design and layout concepts applicable to printed material. Web design concepts and techniques preferred. Knowledge of and ability to use large format printers.

Event Planning:
Knowledge and understanding of marketing library programs and special events.

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Possess interpersonal skills for working with patrons, vendors, community partners, library staff and public.
