RAILS' Veronda Pitchford comments on RAILS' partnership and support of the Soon to be Famous Illinois Author (STBF) contest at a program about STBF at BookExpo America. 2015 project winner Michael Alan Peck and the project team shared tools for self-publishing at this national conference on May 13.

Historian Phil Aleo presented a program at the Fox River Valley Public Library District, documenting the library's 140-year history. It included photos of every location the library occupied - drug stores, a real estate and insurance office, an opera house, city hall, as well as a Victorian home from the 1870s. The Niles Public Library District features a sculpture, called Perpetual Knowledge, designed and created by Chicago artist Terry Karpowicz. The sculpture was paid for by Friends of the Niles Public Library.

Quilted banners made by a local quilters guild are part of the decor at the Cherry Valley Public Library District. Since the banners relate to travel, the library decided to feature them in the area where patrons apply for passports.
