RSA Hosts 7th Annual Back-to-School Workshops

Twenty-one staff members from school libraries that belong to the Resource Sharing Alliance (RSA) NFP LLSAP attended the seventh annual RSA Back-to-School Workshops. School library staff attended Back-to-School Workshops on either July 27 or August 9, 2016, at the RAILS East Peoria service center.

Brian Smith, RAILS Applications & Web Developer, shared Library Learning tips and tricks and provided a virtual tour of the redesigned RAILS web site.

RSA staff shared information relevant to school library operations. Participants previewed new features in the RSAcat online catalog, practiced configuring database defaults for checking out materials, learned about the new SirsiDynix reporting interface, discussed the RAILS / Illinois State Library partnership for Professional Development Hours credit, and watched two new cataloging videos accessible via the RSA YouTube channel.

Russell Theobald, RAILS East Peoria Delivery Services Manager, shared an update on school delivery service and concluded the Back-to-School Workshops by leading participants on tours of the East Peoria delivery hub.

In addition to the topics on the agenda, attendees enjoyed the opportunity to network with fellow school librarians and ask questions of RSA staff. RSA would like to thank all who attended.

RSA is one of four RAILS LLSAPs (MAGIC, PrairieCat, RSA, and SWAN) that serve registered Illinois library users across the RAILS service area. More information can be found at:
