A holiday tradition continued this year at the Mount Prospect Public Library. During the Winter Festival of Gifts, staff bring in food or other donations for the Mount Prospect Emergency Food Pantry and get tickets for a drawing to win crafts, baked goods, or talents donated by their peers. Staff offer brownies, knitted items, jewelry, or even tours of Chicago neighborhoods.
This year, there were a total of 82 prizes to choose from, and staff donated 767 items for the pantry. A committee of six solicits and receives donations, creates a display of items in the staff lounge and on the staff intranet, and chooses the winners, which are announced during a holiday luncheon.
