Our current strategic plan was approved by the RAILS Board in February 2014. In developing the plan, we sought input from all types of RAILS member libraries (academic, public, school, and special) via focus groups, member surveys, an environmental scan, and a needs assessment. Most of the goals in the plan were developed as a result of this feedback.
RAILS has put the plan to good use and we have made great strides in meeting the needs members identified as being of major importance to them during the planning process.
Because our current plan is almost four years old, we want to ensure that we are still addressing the major needs of our members, and that our strategic plan continues to lead our organization and our members into the future.
We've already received some great feedback from members, at our January 2018 Member Update meeting.

Over the next several months, we will seek additional input from all our member libraries by:
- Conducting a needs assessment survey in early 2018
- Traveling to libraries in different areas of the system to conduct a "listening tour"
