RAILS Wants to Hear From You!
RAILS is in the process of revising our strategic plan. We want to get as much input as possible from our member libraries of all types about the challenges they are facing that RAILS may be able to address in our revised plan. We've conducted listening tours in different areas of RAILS and for academic, school, and special libraries. We will also invite all staff at all RAILS libraries to complete a needs assessment survey this spring. You can also comment on the RAILS website at https://www.railslibraries.info/about/strategic-plan-2018.
BiblioBoard Print Collateral on RAILS Website
BiblioBoard is an e-book platform that allows any Illinios resisdent access to thousands of e-resources free of charge and without needing a library card. If your library would like to print some BiblioBoard marketing materials to share with your patrons, we have added print- and web-ready files on the RAILS website. You can find files for bookmarks, rackcards, and posters. We will add other materials as they become available. Visit the RAILS website > Services > BiblioBoard Library and look under Program and Promotion Ideas for these and other useful tools. To start using BiblioBoard right now visit library.biblioboard.com/home.

Find More Illinois Update
In late January, the RAILS Board approved moving forward with the Find More Illinois (overlay) pilot project. Implementation of SHAREit software from Auto-Graphics began shortly afterward, with 21 libraries from I-Share, PrairieCat, and Rock River Library Consortium participating in the pilot. Staff training will take place in early April, and the pilot is expected to launch to the public in May.
Although only pilot participants and their patrons will be able to place interlibrary loan requests, everyone will be able to search the virtual catalog. Expansion to other libraries that wish to participate may occur as soon as fall 2018.
For more information about Find More Illinois, see railslibraries.info/services/overlay-project and watch RAILS E-News for updates.
Revision of Membership Standards
RAILS continues to work on revising system membership standards to help all libraries provide the best possible service to their users. Last November, we worked with 55 libraries of all types across Illinois to test the standards. We received excellent suggestions and will make changes to the standards as a result. We will report on these changes at the April 11 RAILS Member Update and via other means. We also plan to gather additional data from all of our members as we move ahead with the standards revision process. To view the amended standards visit https://www.railslibraries.info/membership/standards.
Visit the RAILS Booth at Upcoming Conferences this Spring
We look forward to seeing you there!
