Galena Public Library Holds Annual LitFest

On January 16, 2016 the Galena Public Library took over the historic Desoto House Hotel for this year's Galena LitFest, sponsored by the Friends of the Galena Public Library.

The day started out with a Literary Vendor Fair in which local authors, booksellers, and the Friends of the Library showcased books and more in the ballroom. At noon writers' workshop graduate, Andres Carlstein, taught "Literary Fabulism," a workshop which used elements of classic storytelling to create a compelling narrative voice.

In the evening LitFest moved to the Desoto Courtyard Restaurant for "Dinner with the Authors." Two speakers gave wonderful presentations over a three course dinner. The opening speaker was "Soon to be Famous Illinois Author," Michael Alan Peck. The keynote speaker was the author of "Autobiography of a Freedom Rider," Thomas Armstrong.

Plans for next year's LitFest are now underway.
