Library Volunteer Celebrates Birthday, Becomes Centenarian

Kay Harlow of Sun City spends some of her spare time as a volunteer at the Huntley Library. However, she is unlike any other volunteer in the 26 year history of the district. A volunteer since 2006 with unbridled enthusiasm, Harlow turns 100 this November 10.

Harlow volunteers at the library two days each week in the Circulation Department, helping sort materials on hold for patrons. Library staff will celebrate with her on this momentous occasion. Harlow, originally from England is known within her family as 'the Queen Mum'. She eventually settled in New York, and brought some swagger with her when she relocated to Huntley.

When asked about her position at the library, Harlow responded, "I love coming here, I look forward to this every week".

Pamela Kampwerth, Head of Volunteer & Outreach Services said, "Kay shares her smile, her time and her stories with us. We appreciate her dedication and her spirit and eagerly await celebrating this milestone with her."

The Huntley Area Public Library is located at 11000 Ruth Road, Huntley, IL 60142. For more information about the library visit www.huntleylibrary.org.
