Meet the Tiny Book Club Podcast

Back in 2017, a group of three Glenview Public Library librarians, Teri, Anne, and Ethan, started the Tiny Book Club podcast. For each episode, they read books on a certain genre or theme and come together to chat. With over 50 episodes, The Tiny Book Club has covered themes like band books, other worlds, and space opera. We sat down with Ethan to learn more.

How does the Tiny Book Club work?
(E): Originally, we all sat in the same room and recorded around a Yeti microphone (the same one is available in the Library of Things). Now, we all record our dialog separately using a headset over a video call. After recording, I edit and sync all three recordings together.

Do you have a favorite episode?
(E): I like our "Forced Reading" episode where we recommended books to each other. Normally, only one of us has read any given book on the show, so it was fun to have more to talk about when at least two of us had read the same book. I also really like our 50th episode, where we read 50-year-old books, because I got to re-read my favorite book of all time, Watership Down by Richard Adams.

What's a topic you'd love to do an episode on?
(E): One is "guilty pleasures," books that we might be a little embarrassed about loving. Another is "books we really should have read already," where we each read a classic that we somehow haven't read yet. I'd also love to do more non-book episodes on other things at GPL – there are many options, but I'd most like movies.

What can listeners look forward to?
(E): New and regular listeners can look forward to our regular format episodes continuing every month, with some special episodes on the off months.
