Exciting Changes Are Coming to the BiblioBoard Platform and Inkie.org!

We are refocusing the content that is available on the BiblioBoard platform and rebranding it as Inkie.org Library. The revised platform will exclusively feature content by Illinois authors, creators, and communities. Collections will include the Indie Illinois e-book collection and the RAILS Community Collections multimedia anthologies.

RAILS Community Collections include unique content curated by individual libraries, such as digital portfolios, albums from local musicians, and pictures and books from local archives. Libraries can create their own community collections by subscribing to a service called Creator for an additional discounted cost. See the RAILS Deals and Discounts page for more information (login required).

Over the last several years, the RAILS Community Collections have consistently experienced the most engagement from users in Illinois. Focusing on content by Illinois creators and communities will help libraries promote the Inkie.org Library to their patrons. It will also tie the content directly to the self-publishing services available via Inkie.org.

Most of the other content available in the BiblioBoard Library is moving to the eRead Illinois Axis 360 collection where it will be available for simultaneous use. The nearly 5,000 titles that are moving include educational e-books for young readers, as well as titles focused on health, wellness, civil rights, contemporary nonfiction, and selections from the Indie Author Project Select self-published fiction collection. For information on joining eRead Illinois and gaining access to these simultaneous use materials as well as over 56,000 popular e-books and audiobooks, visit ereadillinois.com/join.

A small portion of BiblioBoard Library content - materials in the BiblioBoard Core, PopUp Picks, Scholarly Resources, Public Library of Science, and the Bodleian Library collections - will no longer be available. This is largely due to low usage and format issues. Keeping only the most popular content on the BiblioBoard platform will provide users with what they want while also allowing RAILS to use our resources most effectively – a win-win for Illinois libraries.

The Inkie.org Library (Indie Illinois and RAILS Community Collections) is available to everyone in Illinois, courtesy of RAILS, regardless of whether they have a library card. Items on this platform have no holds, no waits, and can be accessed simultaneously via this link: https://illinois.biblioboard.com/.
