As the 2021 President of the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services (ABOS), I am beyond excited to announce the NEW 2021 ABOS "All Aboard!" Membership Campaign!

What is the "All Aboard!" Membership Campaign?

The mission of the 2021 ABOS "All Aboard!" Membership Campaign is to expand our organization's reach, make those in the bookmobile and outreach field more aware of ABOS, and to help us welcome new ABOS family members. ABOS is the all inclusive organization for those who do any type of outreach in their community.

How can I support the "All Aboard!" Membership Campaign?

The best way to support this campaign is through continued membership. Is your membership due for renewal soon? You can check your membership status by clicking on the membership link on the ABOS website.

Does ABOS have different levels of membership?

Yes, we do!

  • Individual - $49

  • Institution - $135 for 3 staff ($45 for each additional staff member)

  • Student - $20

  • Retiree - $20

What are the benefits of being an ABOS member?

Membership benefits include:

  • Active access to our listserv where ideas and best practices are shared.

  • Discount on conference registration.

  • Voting rights in the organization.

  • Build your resume by participating in the association and committees.

  • Access to scholarships and awards.

  • Mentorship from leaders and professionals in the library and outreach field.

  • Part of a national and international resource network.

  • Continuing education opportunities.

How can I encourage others to join ABOS?

This year, I challenge each of you to promote ABOS to your co-workers, colleagues from neighboring libraries, local/regional/state outreach groups, and state libraries and library associations. Bring a friend to our annual conference and encourage them to join ABOS. Below, please find a link to our newly released 2021 ABOS membership brochure. Consider sharing it with your colleagues, your outreach friends at other libraries, and/or when you attend conferences and networking groups.

Membership Mondays series

Crystal Harris, 2021-22 Board Member-at-Large and the Membership Committee Chair, and I are launching the Membership Mondays series to feature the many faces of ABOS. During the series, Crystal and I will interview ABOS members and we will share the interviews on our listserv and social media channels. We will feature a new Membership Monday on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. Crystal and I will also ask for written interviews. Stay tuned for the first Membership Monday on Monday, February 22!

Will there be any raffles or giveaways to ABOS members for encouraging others to join ABOS?

Yes! From February 15th through August 31st, every time a new member registers or someone renews, they will have the opportunity to input who referred them. The winner will be awarded a 2021 conference registration and some ABOS swag. After August 31st, five (5) winners will be randomly selected from the referrals. There is no limit on how many people you can refer.

Rules:

  • For the free 2021 conference registration and ABOS swag to be raffled, there must be a minimum of 30 separate referrals overall during this period for the drawing to occur.

  • 2021 conference registration is non-transferable. In the event the winner cannot attend, another name will be drawn.

  • Winner must have an active membership and be in good standing with ABOS.

  • If the winner has already paid for their ABOS 2021 conference registration, the fees will be refunded.
