The Oak Lawn Public Library is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Director, Carol Williams. Carol will begin on Monday, January 11, 2021. She currently works as Assistant Director at the Hammond Public Library in Hammond, Indiana. Carol has worked at the Hammond Public Library for 17 years in increasing positions of leadership. Her intimate knowledge of public libraries includes positions as a page, circulation clerk, cataloger, youth librarian, trainer, department head, and Assistant Director. Carol holds an undergraduate degree from Purdue University in Professional Writing, and a Masters in Library Science from Indiana University with a Masters Certificate in Non-profit Management.
Carol welcomes the opportunity to combine her knowledge, experience and energy and put it to work at the Oak Lawn Public Library and in the Oak Lawn community.
"I believe that libraries play an important role in a community. They are free and open to all. They provide access to technology and learning opportunities. They allow expansion and realization of thoughts, ideas and dreams. The only constant in libraries is change. We change with time, technology, media formats and public demands. But what always remains the same is staff commitment to provide the best service possible and the ability to produce unbiased information for all individuals to make up their own minds."
The Oak Lawn Public Library warmly welcomes Carol Williams!
