The Roger Gustafson Memorial at the Princeton Public Library

The Princeton Public Library has received generous memorial donations in honor of Roger Gustafson. Roger was a very active supporter and patron of the library. He dedicated his time and wisdom as a member of PPL's Board of Trustees from September 2013 until the time of his passing in November 2016. In addition to his time spent with PPL, he contributed in many ways to the community at large.

The memorial donations, along with a generous contribution by his wife, Linda, were used to enhance the entry way into PPL. The Roger Gustafson Memorial begins with additional plantings and the paved patio which connects the handicap parking area to the entrance. Jeremiah, the 500 lb frog, lends a whimsical aesthetic to the existing water fountain. Two benches will be added soon to offer patrons a spot to sit and enjoy the surroundings. Roger enjoyed gardening and being outdoors, making the creation of this park-like area especially appropriate in tying those two interests to the library he served.

Linda Gustafson worked closely with Josh Schnaitor of Prairie Nursery and Landscaping, to create this area to reflect Roger's personality. PPL Board member, Jan English oversaw the project and Jane Morris, The Garden Governess, who maintains the existing library landscape worked with Josh on the style of plants. Together, these individuals have provided a comfortable outdoor area that all library patrons and the community can enjoy for years to come.
