Malta Library receives $10,000 renovation grant

Malta Township Public Library has received a $10,000 renovation grant from the DeKalb County Community Foundation. The foundation's vision "is to be a philanthropic leader as we partner with others to build strong communities throughout DeKalb County."

The money covers 1/2 of the $20,000 project to replace brick and windows of the library's original building, constructed in 1923. Nearly 20 individuals volunteered their time and equipment to removing the old brick and mortar, windows, and old entrance so the original building would conform to a new addition completed in 2007.

The project should be finished within the next two weeks just ahead of summer reading. Final renovation to the inside will be completed this September.
