MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited American Library Association college or university with a Master's degree in Library Science or an approved foreign credential evaluation supplemented by three years of progressively responsible professional library experience including one year of supervisory experience.
NOTE: Physical day to day responsibilities for this title may include the ability to lift and carry library materials. Ability to stand for extended or continuous periods of time. Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach out with one's body arms or legs. Ability to climb staircases, ladders and or step stools.

DUTIES: Under general supervision, perform fully functional professional library work and overall management, operation and maintenance of library services and facility or department. Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for patrons of all ages and staff. Develop a professional and service-oriented culture. Work with staff to meet standards set by CPL service departments. Uphold and interpret library use guidelines, procedures and policies for patrons and staff. Provide direct customer and reference service to library patrons of all ages. Address patron concerns, resolving issues in a timely and courteous manner. Manage all aspects of branch or department staffing including hiring, training, timekeeping and scheduling. Conduct regular staff evaluations, monitor performance and apply progressive discipline as necessary. Oversee collection maintenance. Develop community outreach and program plans and oversee implementation. Promote library programs, services and exhibits. Establish and maintain working relationships with community organizations. Represent the library at community, civic or other events to ensure library services are meeting the needs of the community. Prepare and maintain records, budgets and reports of library activities and inventories. Responsible for oversight of circulation functions. Support, promote and train staff on library trends, best practices and new technologies. Ensure the orderly physical condition of facility or department, including security and custodial issues, identify, coordinate and follow up on areas in need of improvement and repair. Actively participate in recruitment efforts and promotion of library career paths. Assist Library leadership in implementing city and strategy goals and objectives. Uphold the Library's commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. Participate in professional development. Perform related duties as assigned.
