MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited American Library Association college or university with a Master's degree in Library Science or an approved foreign credential evaluation

NOTE: Physical day to day responsibilities for this title may include the ability to lift and carry library materials. Ability to stand for extended or continuous periods of time. Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach out with one's body arms or legs. Ability to climb staircases, ladders and or step stools.

These positions are covered under the terms of the City's collective bargaining agreement with American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit (1, 3, 4 & 5) are eligible to bid on these positions.
DUTIES: Under supervision, performs entry-level professional library work with specific skills in serving teens, parents, and teachers. Assists library patrons in using facility resources and provides information, reference and reader's advisory services to patrons using both print and electronic resources. Assists library patrons with internet research and basic computer assistance. Assists in developing and administering library programs and services such digital media production, book clubs, and community events. Establishes and maintains working relationships with schools and other community organizations to promote library services. Assists with collection maintenance. Promotes library programs, services and exhibits. Compiles and maintains records and reports of library activities and inventories. Assists with all customer service desk duties. May supervise the work of library associates, library pages and clerical staff. Works as part of a team to meet city and library goals. Participates in professional development. Interprets the Library's policies and procedures to the public in a customer friendly manner. Upholds the Library's commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. Performs related duties as assigned.
