Salary: 
Starting rate from $15.91/hour DOQ.

Wilmette Public Library is looking for someone with a passion for technology and digital literacy for our Digital Services Associate position. This full-time role is responsible for providing top notch customer service and one-on-one guidance to patrons in our Computer Room, and will also develop and teach course material on a variety of digital literacy topics. The successful candidate will possess patience and excellent communication skills to explain technical material to all types of users, while providing a welcoming and positive library experience.

Essential duties

· Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons at the digital services desk.

· Provides instruction in the use of resources both 1:1 and to groups; creates and teaches a variety of digital literacy classes.

· Assist patrons using library computers, printers, scanners, microfilm readers, copiers, and other technology equipment. Troubleshoot common technology issues.

· Assist with the set-up of technology for library programs and events, as needed.

· Assist patrons using digital library services, such as borrowing e-books or streaming media.

· Maintains knowledge of tools and resources for digital media creation (audio, images, and video)

· Maintains awareness of and demonstrates ease and comfort with emerging technologies.

Qualifications

· One year experience working with the public required. Experience in public library setting preferred.

· HS Diploma or GED required. Some college coursework preferred.

· Teaching and/or coaching experience with teens and adults.

· Exceptional customer service skills required.

· Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.

· Schedule includes daytime, evening, and weekend hours.
