The Plainfield Public Library District is seeking a friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic new member to join its forward-thinking, highly collaborative Youth Services Department.
This position is responsible for young adult programming as well as providing excellent customer service to patrons of all ages.
The Youth Services Department serves children from birth through high school. Applicants invited for interviews will be asked to demonstrate abilities.
Located in the southwest suburbs and bordered by Naperville and Joliet, the Plainfield Public Library District serves over 75,000 people across five different communities.
Develop, plan and present programs for middle school and high school students
Regularly work at the Youth Services Desk
Answer basic reference and readers' advisory questions in person and by telephone
Instruct and assist patrons in the use of public computers, devices and digital and print resources
Conduct school visits and represent the Library in the community as assigned
LTA certificate with two years of experience working with teens
OR Bachelor's degree with one year of experience working with teens in a programming or educational capacity
Ability to empathize and relate to the needs of all patrons, especially teens
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Demonstrated ability to prepare and present technology-based programs
Basic knowledge of young adult literature, popular materials and reference materials in a variety of formats
