Description
The Carol Stream Public Library is currently seeking 2 innovative and customer focused Youth Services Librarians to join the Youth Services Team. We take pride in maintaining a friendly and collaborative work environment. We're forward-thinking and encourage staff to develop and grow individually. We value each staff member's opinion on new and better ways to serve our patrons. The Library has completed a renovation project and we are eager to share our new look with staff and patrons.
Responsibilities
Our Youth Services Librarians focus on proactively providing patrons with reference and reader's advisory. Responsibilities also include providing engaging programs for the community and cultivating material collections that attract and stimulate usage.
Requirements
Education
• MLIS or equivalent from an ALA accredited school
Experience
• One year working with children or teens in a library or educational setting
• One year Librarian experience
• One year customer service experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Collaborate as a team member in addition to working independently
• Knowledge of library materials for youth and collection management
• Knowledge of reference and reader's advisory resources
Compensation/Classification/Hours
• Starting at $22.20 per hour - Hourly rate dependent upon qualifications
• Part-time, non-exempt position, 16 hours per week
• Schedule includes 2 mornings, one evening, possible afternoons and every 3rd weekend
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally
