Assist, guide, and ensure that all Division Head Management teams are working within their respective entities and that they are reporting annual financial budgets, monthly reports, committee reports, and statistical data in a correct and timely fashion.

The Assistant Director is responsible to the Executive Director to coordinate all Division operations to ensure that they function as integrated parts of the library system.

Work with and assist in the coordination of work schedules and job responsibilities for all departments. Ensure that department manuals and pertinent department information is readily available and up to date.

Assist in the review of existing and the development of new procedures for improved services and operations using a team approach.

Review ARs (Administrative Regulations) and BPs (Board Policy) to ensure their compliance with Indiana Library Standards and Regulations. Bring updates, changes and revisions to monthly meetings with the Executive Director for input and implementation.

Make recommendations regarding promotions, transfers, and other personnel matters.

Work directly with the Executive Director to develop, organize, coordinate and implement staff committees for Library development.

Oversee and assist in the coordination of outreach services, including Librarians Around Town, annual programs, and specialized programs developed by departments. Gather and submit statistics for all outreach programs and visits for all age groups.

Act as the "back up" problem solver (before being escalated to the Executive Director) for disgruntled patrons and patron problems. Work closely with department heads to develop mediation strategies for defense.

Coordinate volunteer program in conjunction with Division Heads and community organizations. Maintain volunteer records and statistics.

In charge of the library in the absence of the Executive Director. Act as community liaison in the absence of the Executive Director at local meetings and events.

Keep well informed of developments in the library field through continuing education in professional activities, meetings and associations.

Administer special projects annually. Work closely with the Marketing Committee to enhance publicity of the Library throughout the City of Hammond.

Serve as "back up" for utilizing security software to monitor, grant staff access, and observe security cameras.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
