Position Details
The Tinley Park Public Library is seeking an energetic, positive, customer service-oriented Circulation Clerk. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work well with the public and staff, recognize the need to refer questions and problems, have the ability to pay attention to detail, and the ability to comfortably perform customer transactions on the computer. The Circulation Clerk reports to the Circulation Services Manager and is part of the Circulation Services Department, a friendly and dedicated team that provides exceptional customer service in a comfortable, welcoming space.
Primary duties include: checking library materials in and out using automated circulation software, collecting fines and entering patron data, issuing library cards, answering and routing incoming telephone calls, operating fax machine and copier, emptying book drop, as well as other duties as assigned. Must be able to move a two-sided cart (with four wheels) loaded with up to 100 lbs. of books or other materials, and be able to lift up to 40 lbs. Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years of prior work experience
- Knowledge of and ability to use PCs and a variety of hardware/software programs
