We are searching for a positive, energetic, customer service loving individual to head our circulation department. This full time (35 hours) professional position has responsibility for all aspects of the circulation processes and the ability to teach and train all staff in needed functions. The Head of Circulation will oversee the off desk area, service desk and the BAV (business and audio visual) desk on the upper level. This person is an integral part of the management team.
Duties include but not limited to:
Fosters a culture of friendly, courteous, excellent customer service at the service desks that they monitor.
Hires, trains, supervises, schedules and evaluates the circulation clerks.
Working knowledge of library policy and procedures and uses good judgement in their application.
Provides excellent phone service.
Oversees operation of the SWAN ILS and serves as a liaison to the SWAN consortium for circulation and interlibrary loan.
Handles any collection agency referrals in conjunction with SWAN.
Reviews replacement costs for lost and damaged materials and takes appropriate steps to withdraw or replace these items.
Works with patrons to resolve any issues that may arise, ex. customer service, lost and damaged fees etc.
Manages fulfillment of interlibrary loan requests through SWAN, ISHARE and OCLC.
Creates statistical reports related to circulation, item and patron records.
Ensures efficient and accurate shelving of AV materials by circulation staff in the BAV.
Conducts routine department meetings to facilitate departmental and overall library communication.
Constantly evaluates work flows and creates new procedures when needed to enhance customer service.
Collaborates with all library departments and serves on library committees to enhance services and implements library-wide projects.
Participates in professional development and networking activities both online and in person.
Coordinates the COHS (College Online High School) in conjunction with the director and marketing.
Have a willingness to jump in when needed.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Transcript required.
College coursework in Library Science a plus.
Five years of library experience in a public service position.
Spanish speaker a plus.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive.
Basic knowledge of SWAN ILS a plus.
Attention to detail.
Can lift 25 lbs.
Have a driver's license and the use of a motor vehicle.
