Are you able or willing to learn to make minor repairs and perform routine maintenance? Can you work evenings and weekends?
The Algonquin Area Public Library seeks two people to fill the second shift positions on our Building and Grounds Maintenance Team. The ideal candidates will be team oriented but able to work independently; demonstrate initiative, problem solving skills, and good judgment when managing unusual situations; and take pride in keeping the Library Buildings and Grounds looking their best and operating efficiently.
Responsibilities of this position include: custodial duties to maintain clean, tidy, and inviting environment including regularly wiping down high touch surfaces, cleaning staff and public bathrooms, mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, and dusting; timely and accurate meeting room set ups; occasional assistance with tasks such as patching and painting, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, security system, and other building systems and equipment; email and other electronic communications; delivery of materials, equipment, furniture between library facilities, support for public events such as moving and setting up tables, tents, and other materials, and occasional other tasks as assigned.

High school diploma and experience with janitorial work, building trades, grounds maintenance, or similar;
Demonstrated interest and experience with building and/or grounds maintenance;
Minimum of one year of experience working or volunteering in a support capacity, preferably in a similar position;
Valid Illinois driver's license and insurance.
