Under the direction of the Director of Libraries participates in all aspects of the daily operations, instruction and learning, reference & user services, and technical services at the Roosevelt University Performing Arts Library. Common areas of participation include but are not limited to: reference and user assistance, instruction one-on-one, in groups or online, and collection management.

Will participate in the establishment and implementation of policies and procedures for operational initiatives, reference and user services, instruction and learning, and collection management in the Performing Arts Library.

Will assist with formulating strategies to keep the Performing Arts Library moving forward in meeting the challenges of new and evolving modes of technical/bibliographic and reference services, implementation of information instruction and curriculum, participation in professional discourse, and serve as liaison to faculty and students in the College of Performing Arts. Will strategically address developments and stay up-to-date in academic librarianship; especially in music, theater, and performing arts.


Master's in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited program.

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Music, Theater, or Performing Arts. (Preferred)

Experienced in the providing reference and library instruction one-on-one, in groups, and in a digital environment.

Experienced in implementing and managing multiple projects and bringing them to completion.

Understanding of current issues and trends facing libraries and the changing nature of the academic library environment supporting technical services, collection management, reference, user services, and instruction.

Strong technical and technological aptitude.

Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships.

Ability to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by embodying Roosevelt's core values, mission, and vision in every aspect of the role working with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

A positive and professional demeanor is a must.

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
