Can you whip up an interactive display, crafternoon activity, or passive craft for kids in your sleep? Can you bounce from storytime clean-up to science project help at the drop of a hat? If your to-read list barely features any books written for your own age group and you love making slime, keep reading, friend—we want you to join our youth & teen services team!

This friendly, dynamic, outgoing, and energetic library associate provides essential library services during the controlled chaos of our bustling and busy space. The perfect candidate is quirky, detail-oriented, creative, patient and level-headed and loves all-hands-on-deck work with kids and families, teens, and tweens. You're a friendly, reliable resource for our patrons, supporting our library's vision of empowering, inspiring, and connecting our community. In return, we will give you a fun, friendly, collaborative work environment with some amazing and inspiring patrons (and staff).

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing stellar library services during peak hours.
  • Managing our busy after-school environment, enforcing behavior and safety policies, including talking with parents/caregivers about behavior issues.
  • Planning and implementing occasional developmentally appropriate programs.
  • Assisting with collection maintenance projects.

Preference will be given to applications received by November 25, 2019 with a preferred start date of late December. Salary is $15.66/hourly with a 20-hour work week and paid time off. Desired schedule is 10-6:30pm Tuesdays & Thursdays and 1-5 Sundays, with a more flexible schedule and possible nights/weekends during the summer and public-school vacations.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree; study in a related field such as education, child development, or literature preferred. A strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in the library field. Two years' experience working with children in an educational or public library setting required. Intermediate to advanced computer and information technology skills.
