Part-Time Assistant Librarian | Youth Services
The Barrington Area Library is looking for an energetic, customer service-oriented team player to contribute to our dynamic Youth Services department. This staff member will: connect customers to the Library's materials and services; collaborate with other staff to plan and present programs (such as technology classes and story times); and provide an amazing library experience to every customer, especially children from birth to eighth grade and their caregivers.
We are a 21st century library, and a busy, friendly place that supports lifelong, active learning, and an appreciation for creativity and innovation. Customers of all ages and interests visit the Library, expecting to find excellent and informed service, programs and workshops that enrich and inspire, and spaces designed for private work and group collaboration. The Youth Services Department is a lively, non-traditional library environment that encourages hands-on learning through play.

Requirements and Skills:
This position requires completion of a bachelor's degree. The successful candidate will have direct experience working with children; will have service related work experience; will have a demonstrated history of: strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, digital literacy, and customer service skills.
Hours, Salary, and Benefits:
This position will be scheduled between 20-28 hours per week and includes day, evening, and weekend shifts. The salary is $18.91 per hour, and this position includes IMRF Pension Plan participation, and earns paid vacation, sick, and holiday benefits. Flexibility in scheduling and the ability to travel locally is required.
