Salary: 
Starting hourly salary $22.17

Are you a librarian who loves working with tweens and teens from diverse backgrounds? Do you consider yourself an innovative programmer, open to developing programs that will engage teens and their families? If so, the Aurora Public Library may be the place for you. We are currently looking for a Teen Librarian at our Santori Library in downtown Aurora to join our Adult Services Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop and present innovative programs
  • Collaborate with Branch Teen Librarians, other colleagues and departments for projects and programming
  • Provide reference, readers, viewers, and listeners advisory services at multiple locations, including the Teen Space
  • Collect and compile accurate statistics on program attendance etc. …
  • Provide regular reports to Manager and colleagues
  • Liaison with multiple school districts to support assignments and to promote programs and summer reading participation
  • Be an advocate for teens and educators, focusing on School Success, one of the pillars of our strategic plan
  • Be aware of current trends and opportunities for positive solutions
  • May be required to attend and represent the Library at some outreach events

Minimum Qualifications:

  • ALA accredited MLS or in the process of earning MLS
  • One year of public library experience
  • One year of experience working with young adults
  • Experience developing teen programs
  • Able to work both collaboratively and individually
  • Good organization skills and detail-oriented
  • Flexible and positive problem-solving approach
  • Ability to work multiple evenings and weekends, adjusting as required for programming
  • Spanish language skills are desirable
