Reference Services Department

Paraprofessional I

The Glenview Public Library seeks a part-time Paraprofessional I in the Reference Services Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, helping patrons with informational and directional questions, in person and over the phone, at a busy public service desk; instructing patrons in the use of the online databases and ILS catalog; and various other duties within the department. This may include coordinating displays, assisting in or teaching computer classes, and selecting print materials in assigned area.

Applicants should enjoy working with the public, be proficient in the use of technology, be able to work within a team environment and demonstrate familiarity with a nonfiction collection. Excellence in customer service in patron and staff interactions and strong communication skills are required.

Hours: Approximately 18/hours per week; must be flexible; mornings, evenings and a weekend rotation.

Requirements: BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university, and a minimum of two years related experience in a public library setting.

Status: Part Time

Hiring Range: $15.88 – $17.87/hour -- DOQ
