The Plainfield Public Library District is seeking innovative, detail oriented, and customer service driven members to join the Technical Services department. This position, along with the Technical Services department, engages in materials management activities throughout the library, with a focus on patron access and customer service.
Under the supervision of the Head of Technical Services, this position is responsible for the ordering, receiving and invoicing of all library materials and ensures items are processed and available for our customers to access and checkout.
Essential functions of this position include:
Receive and verify accuracy of shipments of all library materials
Process library materials, including labeling and security
Enter purchase orders and invoices and other acquisitions tasks as needed
Maintain and manage files and records related to acquisitions
Basic material repairs
Other duties as assigned
High School diploma or equivalent with one year relevant work experience required
Experience with data entry preferred
Public library experience and/or experience with an ILS preferred
Must be detail oriented and have excellent communication skills
Must be able to push a fully loaded book cart
Both positions are part-time, non-exempt and scheduled Monday – Friday, between 9 am and 5 pm with some flexibility. One position is for 19 hours / week and the other is 24 hours / week.
