Do you enjoy capturing the imagination of children and sharing, connecting, and engaging with parents and their little ones? We seek an innovative, energetic, and enthusiastic Youth Services Librarian to join our team.
The person in this position will work with the Youth Services team and Eastgate Branch staff to create and coordinate early literacy initiatives, programming and promotions at both library locations; utilize and teach early literacy skills within the Library and the community; serve as a liaison creating a relationship with and providing resources for local preschools and schools; foster pre-reading skills in our youngest patrons; educate and support parents and caregivers on strategies to build early literacy skills; and develop collections for children to meet the needs of the community.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of current research on early literacy and development of literacy programs for children; knowledge of PLA's ECRR and ECRR2 skills and associated programming; familiarity with the Common Core Standards; ability to teach, demonstrate, and share these skills with the staff and the public; excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated experience teaching and training children and adults; collection development experience
Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution.
