$22.64-$25.03 depends on qualification

Department and Supervision:

  • Works in the Adult Services Department under the supervision of the Head, Adult Services
  • No supervisory responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Staff public service desk and answer reference and readers' advisory questions in a polite and professional manner
  • Develop and teach technology classes
  • Provide tech and eBook tutorials to patrons as requested
  • Collection development in assigned fiction and non-fiction areas
  • Create and deliver programs for adults in the community
  • Lead adult book discussions
  • Coordinate presentations and performances of interest to adults in the community
  • Perform readers' advisory, including creating title lists and displays
  • Assist patrons with public computers and equipment
  • Retrieve, place holds, or initiate inter-library loan requests for requested titles
  • Work with supervisor to coordinate technical training for staff and patrons, giving tutorials as assigned
  • Proactively present new ideas, initiatives, and technology to Library and public
  • Assist with special short-term and long-term projects as assigned
  • Enforce library rules of behavior
  • Represent the Library at city and community organization meetings

  • CCS and HTML

  • Standard reference sources for public libraries
  • Current with library trends and technology


  • Answer reference questions in a timely manner
  • Reach and bend for books on shelves and handle heavy books
  • Learn various search strategies on computer systems
  • Communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) to patrons and staff
  • Provide training to groups of peers

Training and Experience:

  • Education: MLS degree from an accredited institution
  • Experience in instructional technology and developing and teaching technology classes
  • Experience creating and delivering adult programs
  • Experience with content creation for blogs, social media, and presentations
