The Algonquin Area Public Library District seeks a friendly, engaging, and tech savvy crafter to join our growing team of maker and technology oriented staff.
The ideal candidate will possess a desire to serve and interact with the staff and community; understand the changing roles of libraries in their communities; demonstrate good judgment when managing difficult situations; and work with other staff members to promote the Library.
Responsibilities of this position include: maintaining an atmosphere conducive to learning, creating, and exploring the Library's creative spaces and equipment and their functions; teaching classes on a variety of crafting and maker topics; assisting patrons with Makerspace equipment and software such as embroidery and sewing machines, cutting machines, 3D printers, and others; maintaining equipment and tracking supplies as assigned; preparing promotional copy for the library's newsletter, website, and social media as assigned.

Associates or bachelor's degree in teaching or applied technology, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education;
Demonstrated interest and skill in tinkering, crafting, and the maker movement;
Minimum of one year of experience working with the public in a teaching or support capacity;
Library experience preferred
