Responsible for campus library, including general administration, information services, technical services, media and audio/visual services, access services, library information systems, documents, and library special collections.

Manages the operation and provision of access services for a library and serves as a library resource.

The job leads business support within established procedures for the operation and provision of access services for a library and serves as a library resource.
1) The job oversees the lending of materials from reserves and bookstacks., 2) Responsible for collection of fines and fees while on duty and the balancing of cash collected during scheduled hours., 3) Responsible for answering patron questions related to Access Services and serves as a resources for other questions related to other Library services., 4) Distributes work to and monitors the work done by student counter attendants; troubleshoots equipment as needed., 5) Performs other related work as needed.
1) Reporting to the Head of Regenstein Circulation & Building Resources, the Regenstein Circulation Services Supervisor will oversee the lending of materials from circulating collections, course reserves, and interlibrary loan.
2) During evenings/weekends, supervises Entry/Exit staff, acts as the supervisor in charge of the Regenstein Library, oversees building security, and enforces policies for maintaining a scholarly environment in the Library.
3) Answers inquiries concerning overdue books, recalls, reserve problems, and fines in person, over the phone, and via online ticketing, responsible for the balancing of funds collected during scheduled hours.
4) Listens to patrons with special problems or complaints and attempts to resolve these problems as appropriate, Interprets Library policies to patrons and refers patrons' concerns to the Head of Circulation Services when appropriate.
5) Interviews, hires, trains, supervises, and coordinates scheduling the student counter attendants, a shared and/or rotating responsibility with the two other Circulation Supervisors
6) Documents and updates Circulation procedures including training materials
7) Monitors, approves, and submits all documentation related to student counter attendants' payroll, a shared and/or rotating responsibility with the two other Circulation Supervisors.
8) Resolves problems and appeals from users on Entry/Exit questions, and oversees the application of rules and procedures for Library entrance during evenings/weekends.
9) Provides initial response to emergencies and assists patrons in contacting University Police.
10) Handles general inquiries relating to building and security while on duty.

Two positions available with hours noted below.
1) Position 1: This position is scheduled to work Fridays and Saturdays 3-11, and Sundays 6-12 during the academic quarter, and covers all circulation shifts as assigned.*
2) Position 2: This position is scheduled to work Saturdays 8:30-4:30, Sundays 9:30- 5:30, and Mondays 6-midnight during the academic quarter, and covers all circulation shifts as assigned.*
*Responsible for occasionally flexing the work schedule to cover other shifts as necessary in case of illness, vacation, or absences of other supervisors. The expectation is that planned time off will be taken only during interim breaks, and the schedule will be flexible during interim breaks and summer quarter. The hours scheduled may change during interim breaks
Education, Experience, and Certifications
Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
1) Bachelor's Degree
1) A minimum of one (1) year of work experience in a library or equivalent environment.
2) Previous experience directing or supervising the work of others.
3) Significant customer service experience in a fast-paced library, retail, or similar environment.
4) Ability to exercise good judgment consistent with Library policies and procedures and service standards.
5) Ability to manage and maintain professional relationships and communicate with clarity, courtesy, and tact with patrons, staff, students, faculty.
6) Ability to identify and solve problems.
7) Good organizational skills.
8) Ability to manage time and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
9) Reliably able to work independently during evenings/weekends as the sole supervisor in a large academic library.
10) Strong oral and written communication skills.
Technical Knowledge or Skills
1) Knowledge and experience with computer applications such as MS Office, email, and use of the Internet.
