Under the direction of the Library Director, the Communication Manager is responsible for the creation, coordination, and management of activities related to communication and marketing for Town and Country Public Library.

Essential Duties

  • Manage the production of all external Library communication material including, but not limited to, press releases, brochures, and handouts to ensure consistent messaging and uniformity in presentation of information
  • Design and create materials such as posters, digital bulletin board slides, and signage for the Library to communicate information to patrons
  • Facilitate creation and publication of Library newsletter and program guide
  • Manage content on Library website and social media pages
  • Identify trends in media usage and Library marketing to assess communication efforts
  • Collaborate with Department Heads to devise new Library strategies and initiatives
  • Review and enforce brand and Library messaging guidelines across Library website, social media pages, print materials, and e-publications
  • Manage and coordinate content on events calendar and social media event pages
  • Perform internal communication functions including, but not limited to, the management of the staff intranet page, proofreading of important Library documents, and the creation of organizational guides/instructional documents
  • Maintain relationships with local press, community groups, businesses, staff, and Library Board
  • Assist with Department Head projects and program set-up as needed
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, graphic design or related field preferred
  • Professional experience in PR, marketing, graphic design or related field
  • Knowledge of principles of effective customer communication
  • Familiarity with the library industry
  • Creativity and flexibility
  • Ability to work well in a close-knit environment
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects and complete deadlines on time
  • Ability to effectively present information to the public and organizations
  • Ability to draft, edit, and proofread documents
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills, including grammar
  • Strong and effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient using MS Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign or similar products
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, wrist, and shoulder movements
  • Ability to stoop, bend, and stretch
  • Must be able to communicate orally with patrons and other staff members, and both give and receive detailed information through oral communication
