Starting at $22.80/hour and up, depending on qualifications and experience

Do you enjoy doing something different every day? Are you a Youth Services Jack or Jill of all trades? We seek an innovative, energetic, and enthusiastic youth services librarian to join our team. Algonquin Area Public Library Eastgate Branch serves a dedicated patron base and is within walking distance of three elementary/middle schools. Come and join our team to design and deliver library services and programs to attract and engage our youth patrons and their families.

The ideal candidate will possess a desire to connect with the community and serve children of all ages and their families; develop and deliver engaging programs and events for children ages birth to 13 years; set priorities, exercise initiative, and make independent decisions under the direction of the Eastgate Branch Manager and within the parameters of the Youth Services Department; manage time, responsibilities, and pressure effectively; demonstrate good judgment when managing difficult situations; and serve as a resource on youth services for the Eastgate Branch staff as they deliver services that meet community needs and promote the Library.

Responsibilities of this position include working the public services desk; developing and delivering programs and events for the youth patrons of the Eastgate Branch; establishing connections with area schools; collaborating with YS staff to develop and manage the YS collections; and serving as person in charge in rotation with other Eastgate Branch staff.

Master's Degree in Library Science from ALA-Accredited institution
Public or school library experience, a plus
Must be able to travel between library facilities and to area schools
