The Board of Trustees of the Cicero Public Library is looking for a Director who will oversee all the operations of a busy, culturally diverse, urban library. Cicero is conveniently located across from the Pink Line 54th/Cermak station.
Responsibilities and Duties
Possess considerable knowledge pertaining to the principles and practices of public administration as applied to a public library.
Have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, officials of other agencies and the general public.
Work with the Board of Trustees to uphold standard library principles and help them guide the library into the future.
Be able to oversee the management of library personnel, encouraging an open door culture and creative thinking.
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize. The ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
Create a safe, welcoming environment for staff and patrons through the enforcement of library policies as well as overseeing the maintenance of the building.
Develop and monitor annual budget. Look for alternative sources of income such as grants.
Prepare and file all mandated reports to the state.
