37.50 hours per week: Monday–Friday 7:00am–3:00pm or as needed

We are seeking a dependable, experienced Delivery Manager to become part of our delivery team. Physical strength and stamina, as well as a clean driving record, are required. The Delivery Service Manager must be well-organized, personable, efficient and professional at all times while ensuring the operation runs smoothly.

Special Note: This position requires the ability to periodically work nights or PM shifts, as necessary

The Opportunity

As the Delivery Service Manager, you will work out of our Coal Valley delivery hub to support staff and libraries in the Rock Island County area. You will manage the day-to-day operation of the delivery team (primarily drivers and sorters) and oversee the building, facility operations and vehicle maintenance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide guidance and oversight in managing the daily system delivery service, system vehicles, and mail distribution
  • Manage day-to-day oversight of local facility while coordinating maintenance and repairs with the Director, Delivery and Facility Services
  • Recruit, interview, select, train, supervise, schedule and evaluate delivery employees
  • Respond to delivery emergencies and problems with member libraries
  • Supervise both incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries including ILDS
  • Keep vehicle and equipment maintenance records and schedule vehicle and equipment servicing
  • Schedule and conduct statistical studies of delivery volume
  • Approve invoices for payment and forward to accounting for processing
  • Oversee all meeting room set up and meeting support
  • Function as a delivery driver or sorter as needed
  • Utilize office automation system to enhance delivery services
  • Participate in various delivery projects at a level to include development and implementation
  • Oversee successful resolution of delivery helpdesk tickets

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of related work experience; minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience managing and maintaining a building facility is strongly preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair
  • Ability to exercise initiative, practice good judgment, and effectively recommend solutions to challenges or to enhance services or processes.
  • Ability to express oneself clearly both orally and in writing
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite software
