The Algonquin Area Public Library District recently completed a comprehensive renovation project which includes the addition of a makerspace, computer labs at the Main and Eastgate Branch Libraries, and a youth services creation center, and seeks a dynamic individual to develop and grow the services and resources in these spaces and within both library facilities. The Technology Learning Coordinator works with a cadre of highly skilled and eager colleagues to develop and deliver a comprehensive and balanced set of emerging technology and maker-oriented learning experiences for adults, teens, and children.

The ideal candidate will possess a desire to serve and interact with the staff and community; understand the changing roles of libraries in their communities; set priorities, exercise initiative, and make independent decisions; manage time, responsibilities, and pressure effectively; demonstrate good judgment when managing difficult situations; and lead and motivate staff to promote the Library.

Responsibilities of this position include: setting goals and objectives for technology learning under the Library's strategic plan; hiring, managing, and developing technology associates; preparing and managing the technology learning budget; overseeing the development and maintenance of equipment and supplies for maker-oriented and technology learning experiences; providing direct service to library users and staff; overseeing programming in the makerspace, computer labs, and creation center; monitoring library trends and needs; and preparing and evaluating statistical and other reports.

Requirements:

Master's Degree in Library Science from ALA-Accredited institution or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education

Minimum three years library experience

Management, supervisory, or administrative experience preferred
