Elmhurst Public Library enriches life in Elmhurst by providing opportunities to connect, create, and explore. The Adult Services Department is seeking an individual to provide a mixture of public service and clerical support service. Through one-on-one public service interactions and group instruction, this staff member will help patrons find information, locate Library materials, access Library services and use Library and personal technology. Hours off the desk will be spent maintaining Library equipment, shelving items, creating displays and performing various other duties. Applicants for this position should show a demonstrated interest in technology, expertise with the use of creative software, and the ability to offer fantastic customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Staffs the public service desk, assists patrons finding materials, answers questions, provides technology help and facilitates the use of the Creative Studio.
*Teaches monthly technology classes.
*Works on various special projects in support of Library services.
*Helps to maintain an atmosphere conducive to patrons connecting, creating and exploring.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
*Strong knowledge of computers, creative technology and software, Microsoft Office, and the Internet.
*Ability to interact patiently and pleasantly with people of all ages
*Attention to detail
*High School diploma
*Experience working with the public
*Experience providing group or one-on-one technology instruction
*Knowledge of basic library organization
