The Kaneville Public Library is seeking TWO part -time Library Assistant positions to serve with the expected new Director. Applications are being accepted, and expected to be filled after a new Director is identified.
This position will report to the Library Director. The Associate positions will provide desk coverage, patron assistance, perform circulation functions, and perform a limited amount of technical services. A capable and friendly nature is desired and relationships with patrons is important in a place seated in the "heart" of a small town. The Library is a small, rural Library in a cheerful and close knit town. This position is an excellent opportunity to learn about all aspects of Library services, potentially perform or plan programs and activities, and serve youth through adults.
Statistics: Town of approximately 490 residents, proximity to I-88 within 15 minutes. Service district of 1,264. Number of registered patrons 584. Annual circulation 4,512. Items in collection approximately 21,000. Budget of approximately $86,000, 3,000 square feet facility. Member of MAGIC, set to merge with SWAN in 2018. The Library is about 3,000 square feet and is a one room unit with an additional children's area.
Qualifications and Education:
- LTA or other relevant educational experience preferred
- Public library experience
- Familiarly with ILS systems
Each position will work 10-15 hours depending upon schedules of new Director and other staff. As the Library is in transition of staff and leadership, hours will be determined by the new Director.
