The Shorewood-Troy Public Library has an opening for a full-time (40 hours per week) circulation clerk. The position consists of: 1) providing a great customer service experience for our patrons, 2) checking in and out items, 3) sorting items alphabetically, 4) answering the library's main phone number and transferring phone calls, 5) assisting patrons with their informational needs, and 6) other duties as assigned.
Hours will be days, nights, and rotating weekends; some flexibility in scheduling is desirable.
Candidates must be able to multi-task. The job requires standing for long stretches of time.
The successful candidate will be able to work days, nights, and weekends. Necessary qualifications include 1) a minimum of a high school degree or a GED, with an LTA strongly preferred, 2) strong front-line customer service skills and experience, and 3) a great sense of humor! Some library experience is preferred; experience with Polaris preferred.
Normal office skills such as the ability to work with Microsoft Office products, phone skills, and the ability to lift 15-25 pounds are required.
The salary for the position is $13.00 an hour. Benefits for the position include: 1) participation in IMRF, 2) access to health insurance, with the majority of the premium being employer-paid for single coverage, 3) 160 hours of vacation annually, and 80 hours of sick annually.
