La Porte County Public Library is seeking a creative, energetic, and innovative candidate who believes in the mission of the Library and wants to share that enthusiasm with the public.
The primary responsibilities of this position include programming for youth, conducting outreach visits to community schools and organizations, and the promotion of all library services, materials, and resources. This position includes participation in library committees, selection of library materials, and requires the ability to create positive user experiences. Preferred interest in school age programming with the ability to work with ages birth to 17. Interest in maker programming highly desirable. Must have knowledge of children's literature, popular materials, and reference materials in a variety of formats. Must have excellent customer service skills. Serves as person in charge on occasion.
Qualifications and skills include but are not limited to: ability to take initiative and build relationships with community leaders; extraordinary customer service skills; excellent communication and computer skills; ability to work well with others and enjoy it. Knowledge of social media platforms, current library trends, materials selection practices and customer service experience is required. Master of Library Science Degree from an ALA-accredited program and public library experience is preferred.
