Lansing Public Library is seeking a happy, vibrant and energetic customer service team member. Applicant should have the ability to engage our patrons, as well as a great smile and a great attitude! The Circulation Clerk greets and directs library patrons, charges and discharges library materials in accordance with established library policies and procedures, communicates library policies and procedures to patrons and staff in an accurate and courteous manner; manages fines and fees in ILS; issues library cards and maintains library patron records; Performs routine clerical work associated with circulation duties; and performs related duties as required.
Job requires the ability to: Provide excellent customer service to all patrons of the library; communicate well in both oral and written English; operate a PC and related software; operate a cash register, and maintain effective working relationships with other people.
Knowledge of library circulation systems a plus.
Lansing Public Library uses the Symphony ILS, and is a member of SWAN.
Requirements: Flexible hours required. Must be able to work day, evening and Saturday hours. Library hours are M-TH 9:00-8:00, F-S 9:00-5:00
High School diploma or GED. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
Strong organizational skills, Excellent communication/Interpersonal skills, Attention to Detail, Ability to Collaborate Well with Team Members
Computer aptitude and ability to adapt to the technical demands of the circulation system are necessary, as are excellent interpersonal skills and customer service ethic.
