Vendor Discounts and Trials
Several companies offer discounts to LLSAP members that are also available to other RAILS member libraries. Details are attached in documents below; login is required to view most offers.
This information is provided for the convenience of RAILS member libraries. RAILS staff does not negotiate the pricing structure or the discounts that are offered by these vendors. Log in to view/download all attached offers.
What is the difference between discounts and group purchases?
Discounts do not require coordination on the part of RAILS staff. Vendors set discount pricing, report it to RAILS staff, and the information is posted on the website by RAILS. RAILS members work directly with the vendor on placing orders, pricing, and signing contracts.
In FY2012, new group purchasing is not a service that RAILS provides. (The group purchasing process includes: researching products and services, contacting vendors, negotiating pricing, publicizing opportunities, securing signed contracts, and billing member libraries.)
The Illinois State Library has instructed RAILS to focus on its core services: delivery, LLSAPs (system-supported catalogs), and the Talking Book Centers. RAILS has learned that some of the above discounts are available to all RAILS member libraries. This information is for informational purposes only and is not an endorsement by RAILS.
