Want to Try an eReader? Check One Out at the Naperville Public Library

Starting from May 1, 2012, Naperville Public Library will have 30 Nook Simple Touch eReaders and 6 Nook tablets for check out! And you can place a hold on those eReaders right now.

The Library is making it very easy for you to try an eReader. Our Nooks will come pre-loaded with the hottest titles in fiction and nonfiction. There’s no need to get an account or try to figure out how to purchase titles from online stores. Everything is ready for you, all you have to do is push the “on” button.

Are you a romance reader? We have a Nook for you. Interested in best sellers? Look for that Nook.  Crime is your idea of capital entertainment? There’s a Nook just for mysteries and thrillers!  The list goes on. On our Nooks you’ll find Harlan Coben, Jayne Ann Krentz and even James Patterson!

And our pre-loaded Nooks aren’t just for adults.  We’ll have Nooks that come just with children’s and teen titles.  There’s fiction and non-fiction for all ages, picture books for children as well as graphic novels for teens. Look for children’s and teen titles by Wendy Mass, Rick Riordan, and Jon Scieszka.

If you already enjoy eReaders or tablets, our Nooks come pre-loaded with some titles that aren’t available from our regular downloadable collection. That’s another reason to give this new service a try.

“We’re very excited about this new service,” explains Yan Xu, Adult and Teen Services Supervisor at Naper Boulevard Library.  She and a team from all three library buildings are coordinating this service. “We knew from talking with our users that some were very curious but also nervous about downloading books.  We decided to make it easy for them!”

All you need to get started is a valid Naperville Public Library card.  Checking out an eReader is totally free for a 3 week loan period.  When you’re finished, you’ll need to come into one of our 3 buildings and return the eReader to a staff member.  Using the book drop results in a $5.00 fine. overdue fines are $1.00 a day.
