Highlights of July 1 RAILS Board Meeting

On Friday, July 1, the first meeting of the RAILS Board of Directors was held in Burr Ridge. 

Meeting highlights include:

Gail Bush was selected as Chair Pro Tem and led the meeting until officers were elected.

The policy on meeting via electronic means was approved.

The following officers were elected to the RAILS Board:

  •  John Chrastka (Trustee, Berwyn Public Library), President
  •  Alan N. Davidson (Trustee, Princeton Public Library), Vice-President
  •  Victoria A. Haines (Trustee, St. Charles Public Library), Treasurer
  •  William N. Coffee (Trustee, LaGrange Public Library), Secretary
  •  Phyllis Self (Academic, Western Illinois University), At-Large Executive Committee Member
  •  Kerry W. Pearson (Trustee, Arlington Heights Memorial Library), Ethics Officer
  •  John J. DiGilio (Special, Reed Smith LLP), Freedom of Information Act Officer
  •  Kathy Parker (Trustee, Tinley Park Public Library), Open Meetings Act Designee

Michael Piper was appointed Interim Executive Director of RAILS, based on the recommendation of the Merger Transition Board.

RAILS Board members will be polled for their preference on future meeting dates/times.

A number of actions of the Merger Transition Board were ratified, including the RAILS Plan of Service, Bylaws, Employee Handbook, LLSAP service agreements and System and Area Per Capita Grant application.

The next meeting of the RAILS Board will be held on Thursday, July 21, at 1 p.m. in Burr Ridge.
