RAILS Membership

Note: The RAILS Membership Application is not the form for the Illinois State Library's Library Certification process, which began in January.

If your library is already a member of RAILS (see member library directory), you did not need to submit the membership application below, although you did need to follow the certification procedure during the first quarter of calendar year 2013 to retain membership. The ISL Library Onlince Certification form was available from January 2 through March 31.

Any academic, public, school or special library located within the RAILS service area is eligible to apply for membership. Acceptance is subject to the approval of the RAILS Board of Directors and the State Librarian.

To apply for membership in RAILS, follow these steps:

• Read the RAILS Membership Requirements (attached below)
• Complete the RAILS Membership Application (attached below)
• Have library’s governing authority complete and sign the appropriate section of the RAILS Library Agreement (attached below)
• Return membership application and library agreement to:

The completed application will be presented to the RAILS Board of Directors. If approved, the application will be sent to the Illinois State Library for approval.
