Position Description: 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Database Administrator and the Electronic Products and Services (EPS) Department to develop reports from production software that ensure and enhance bibliographic data quality
  • Runs routine reports to identify bibliographic errors that need correction
  • Gathers and collates monthly statistical data for the Index Director
  • Oversees the acquisition of materials for indexing in ATLA RDB and ATLA CPLI
  • Oversees storage and eventual deselection of indexed materials
  • Oversees publisher interactions for claiming and check-in of all serial issues and books with the Acquisitions Specialist
  • Consults with the Manager, Business Development on updating and evaluating boilerplate licenses in consultation with legal counsel
  • Works with the EPS Department to coordinate acquisitions of ATLASerials® (ATLAS®)material
  • Works with the Database Administrator to develop and enhance the acquisitions module of ARDIS and the general departmental workflow
  • Coordinates product information for strategic marketing of products with the Business Development Department
  • Works with the indexers and management team to select and acquire serial and book titles for indexing in ATLA’s RDB and CPLI, including periodic trips to local academic libraries
  • Supervisory responsibilities, primarily with the Acquisitions Specialist and the Data Entry Assistant(s)

    Qualifications:

    Required Qualifications Include:

    • Master’s degree or at least two (2) years of graduate study in library or information science
    • Experience working with computers and bibliographic databases
    • Ability to read and work in at least one Western European language (German, French, Spanish or Italian); knowledge of additional languages a plus
    • Extended concentration and attention to detail
    • Ability to produce accurate and timely work in a publishing atmosphere with firm deadlines
    • Effective interpersonal skills to work in a collegial team environment with other staff members

    Preferred Qualifications Include:

    • Background in religious studies, theology, or allied fields
    • Background in copy editing and QA processing
