Elmhurst College is seeking a full-time Library Technology Specialist for supporting, maintaining, monitoring, updating, troubleshooting and repairing library computer systems, including public and staff computer workstations, network components, software and applications.  Assisting with server administration of the library’s servers.  Working with faculty to promote the effective uses of library and instructional technology in support of teaching and learning.  Major responsibilities: Coordinate the maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and updating of library staff and public-use computer workstations and laptops.  Manage upgrades of software and hardware, such as operating system upgrades, general office and Internet applications, and internal and external peripherals for all library computers, including PCs and Macs.  Provide technical and instructional support for the First Year Seminar. Support faculty in creation of digital materials for use in the classroom.  Function as a liaison between the library and the Information Services Department.  Assist Head of Technical Services with digital content management, including institutional repository, digital collections, and art images collection.  Monitor appropriate electronic and print sources for current awareness of PC software and hardware offerings, techniques, and trends.  Design and/or upload web pages to the library website using web-authoring software, including CSS and HTML.  Share in the provision of reference services.    Qualifications:  Knowledge of computer applications and equipment operation.  Interest in and enthusiasm for learning about and applying technology in an academic library.  Skill set and education appropriate to requirements.  Ability to perform accurate and detailed work.  Ability to work independently, lift objects up to 40lbs, good customer service skills, and to communicate with broad customer base.  Desirable Qualifications:  Broad general education with special interest in computers and their applications in libraries.  Enrollment in or recent (2010-2012) completion of a program of study in library science.  Prior experience working with computer networks, experience working with Microsoft Windows, and proficient in popular software applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe products, Mozilla products).  Web authorship skills and/or application proficiency.    Application deadline:  March 1, 2012.  Apply online at: Elmhurst.simplehire.com  Elmhurst College, an equal opportunity employer, seeks candidates with demonstrated ability to contribute positively to a multicultural campus community.
