The Aurora Public Library, Aurora, Illinois seeks a Branch Coordinator to be responsible for all aspects of the operation of its West Branch located at 233 S. Constitution Drive on the campus of Washington Middle School. Under the administration of the Library Director, the work involves providing leadership and management of branch operations, library services and activities of its 23 employees.
The Aurora Public Library includes the main library, two branches, a support facility and bookmobile. To serve 197,899 residents, the current library operations budget is $11 million and the staff numbers 86 full-time and 87 part-time employees. Aurora is an ethnically diverse community located 40 miles west of Chicago on the Fox River.
- Required: MLS from an ALA accredited institution; 5 years professional library experience including a minimum of 2 years experience in supervision, management or administration in a library environment, preferably at the department level or higher; flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
- Expected: Considerable ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English; considerable knowledge of professional library practices, procedures and technology; ability to work effectively within a variety of situations and with a variety of individuals; and strong customer service attitude.
- Desired: Considerable public library work exprience; extensive experience in a variety of library related technologies, i.e. electronic databases, e-books, social networking, etc.; experience and comfort in public presentations.
